A recently discovered species (1977) that seems to be limited
to the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. May be threatened with habitat
destruction. Locally abundant where found. Currently many populations occur
within the confines of a national park (on Mt Apo ), offering some degree
of protection, but surrounding colonies do not have such protection. The
subspecies from N Mindanao does not seem different to the nominate race
to me to warrant separation. The specimen on the right is faded somewhat
