Two isolated populations are known: the nominate form from NW Borneo in lowland rain forests, and ssp neomiranda found in the western highlands of Sumatra (rare and very local.) Both are illustrated, and many believe that they should be ranked as full species. Females are perhaps the largest Troides known and quite impressive, I'm told, to see on the wing. Ranching is currently underway in Sumatra with pairs selling for 100 to 200 $ US. Like all Troides species, CITES permits are required.
