   Confined to the Bahamas and the northern islands of the Carribbean (Cuba, Jamaica, the Caymans), occaisionally colonizing the Florida Keys. Generally common, and at times  a citrus pest in Jamaica, where it was introduced in the middle of this century and may be competing with and replacing P. melonius. Bonhotei flies in the Bahamas, and a third ssp. tailori, is known from the Cayman Islands (less common).
