Limited range in New Guinea Aru, Bachan and Halmahera,
This is an infrequently encountered and very local lowland forest species
like its cousins G browni and G
hicetaon. According to Parsons, it is sporadically and rarely found
in "secondary marginal forest from sea level to 1200 m"
