Widespread with some 8 subspecies, found from S Burma
and S Thailand east and south through the Malay peninsula, the Philippines
(Palawan), and W Indonesia to Borneo. Local but not uncommon, it flies
in dense forest. Subspecies include:
neptunus - Malaysia, S Burma and Thailand
siborangitana - N Sumatra
padangana - W Sumatra
doris - Borneo
dacasini - Palawan
creber - Simeulue
fehri - Nias
